  • Topic: Exchanging ideas on demand-side energy efficiency, who is interested in what and do we want to work on it together, how and when
  • Participants: Everyone who reads this is invited, nomatter if Common Future member or not.
  • Access to the conference: From 15 minutes before start of the conference (i.e. 2.45) you can click on a link on the main page "Upcoming Events" which which directly take you into the conference room. All operating systems and browsers acceptable. No download/installation required. No Web-Cams/Microphones required.

On this page, we should have a pre-discussion to the conference, so that we have some things already sorted - or clarified - before the meeting.

Agenda items you would like to add

  • Modularisation: How are we going to be splitting up the work such that it will nonetheless be able to fit it into one whole?
  • How are we fitting things together? Just writing bits and pieces in the wiki or group discussions on specific issues summarized in parts of a position paper? Or any other way of co-operating you can think of?

A: I think that this touches upon the point about modularisation as well, meaning what kinds of work are we going to do, and how are we going to patch them together. I would venture the guess that everything that is informational (like "How to save...", "Case studies" etc) can be on the wiki, but quite a bit of the work should be offline.

  • Whatever the topic(s) is going to include, one point I would like to add is: Rebound-effect, that is the problem that people tend to spend the money they save on energy efficiency by either using the energy elsewhere or spending it on some other energy intensive activity that can cancel out some or all of the intended effect.

For questions about this meeting, write underneath. Please kindly answer other participants' questions as possible:

  • Q: What is this project going to be about concretely? That is: Position papers? Creation of Information material? etc --Marc 17:53, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

A: Partial answer by myself (--Marc 17:53, 16 June 2009 (UTC)):

    1. What are other people out there doing in this direction?
Pull together (or find already existing) information on 'How to use less energy'
Make sure we build the contacts so that we actually disseminate the information, otherwise the whole project becomes an intellectual exercise
The project should have some practical dimension, so that we do some offline (aka as "The real world") work :-))

  • Q: What would people think if we tried something like 50:50 in practice, but such that part of the financial gains goes into some "investment fund for efficiency" that could be used by future 50:50 users? Example: a school saves €10.000 over a year, and 5% of that goes into the fund (so it would be a 50:45:5) and if then a school comes that does really need money to invest, then they can dig into this. Any thoughts?
